Deep Journeys Peru 2009
In September 2009 we will journey to Peru on an advanced trip, open by application to individuals whose life embodies a commitment to walking their sacred path.
We will visit many of Peru’s most sacred Inca and pre-Inca sites, and work with some of the most
capable shamans in Peru - medicine men and women from the jungle, the coast and the mountains.
We will explore, spend time in ceremony, laugh, and have a wonderful time.
What to Expect
- Travel in a genuinely small group (maximum 10 people), allowing for nimbleness and a very
personal experience. Suitable for people accustomed to independent travel.
- Trip led by healers and shamanic practitioners, not travel agents or tour guides.
- Focus on mystical ceremonies and wisdom teachings, consistently working at and beyond the
horizons of our experience and beliefs about the nature of our nature. Deep Journeys sets the
intention to let go of fear and embrace who we are to the fullest extent possible.
- Opportunity to work with the best of local master shamans.
- Outstanding value: nearly all-inclusive trip of high quality at reasonable price. No hidden
charges, with most meals and gratuities included.
- Accommodations in some of the most unique, charming hotels in the area to enhance your enjoyment
of the trip. Where possible, wholesome organic foods are served.
- Changing hotels is minimized to allow for more peaceful and restful experience.
Accommodation
Amazon
We will stay in an ecological jungle lodge on Madre de Dios River. Our accommodation will be in typical bungalows with private bathrooms and screened-in porches with hammocks for peaceful midday lingering and relaxation. The lodge is located inside the Tambopata Nature Reserve, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the jungle experience, dazzling all our senses. At night, the sounds of the surrounding rainforest provide for an unforgettable experience. We will have an opportunity to observe local wildlife, including parrots and wild monkeys, find jaguar tracks, and admire over 700 kinds of butterflies. Delicious rainforest cuisine is served.
The Andes - Sacred Valley
We’ll base our trip in a beautiful, serene retreat center in Sacred Valley, which is centrally located to Peru’s most sacred sites. The owner has created an oasis specifically for reflection and healing, with stylish, soul-soothing accommodations, magnificent meeting rooms, lush gardens filled with Andean medicine plants and brilliant flowers, and numerous secluded spots inviting for a quiet visit or a meditation. She serves some of the best meals in Peru, all organic and vegetarian and mostly grown in her own gardens. While at the retreat, there will be an opportunity to schedule a private massage or a crystal bed treatment, or soak under the stars in outdoor Andean baths filled with minerals and medicinal herbs and flowers from the gardens. Guests have available also indoor meditation rooms and an eclectic library.

Sneek Peak - Sacred Sites of Peru 2010
In May 2010, we will journey to Peru to visit sacred sites of the Inca, and immerse ourselves into their spiritual traditions. Our pilgrimage will be a magical journey of prayer, transformation and profound experiences, as well as fun and laughter.
Based out of Cusco and the Sacred Valley, our group will take day trips to many of Peru’s most sacred Inca and pre-Inca sites: Coricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Tipon, Moray, and of course, Machu Picchu. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the Sacred Valley is full of history and stories to be told. Amidst the breath-taking beauty of the Andes, we will have the opportunity to admire the unbelievable stonework of the ancient Andean artisans, experience the potent energy of their sacred sites, deepen our connection with nature and the Earth, and learn how to conduct ceremonies.
Shamans will accompany us on many of our day trips as well as perform ceremonies in the gardens of our hotel. We will learn how to use our breath to put our prayers into the k’intu, the three coca leaves that we offer to the Apus. We will also learn how to release hucha, the heavy energies that collected in our energetic bodies and how to bring in sami, the light, refined energies. We work with a variety of Inca master shamans, including native healers from the Q’ero nation high in the Andes and from the Amazon jungle. Although all are rooted in the Inca wisdom lineage, each expresses their gift in their own, unique way. All are fun, wonderful human beings to be around. Their work ranges from sacred despacho ceremonies, coca leaf reading, and direct energetic transmission, to shamanic perspectives on the Inca from a PhD shaman archaeologist. Through the diverse expressions of our shamans we can learn to separate the wisdom from the wise, the teaching from the teacher, and further our own development as human beings. Personal, one-on-one healing sessions with the shamans will be available as well.
We will also allow for some free time for quiet reflection or journaling. We will have an opportunity to see the day-to-day Andean life, and visit charming local markets and an artisan studio that focuses on bringing to life techniques and designs of their ancestors.
